DUNLOP Motorsport Wins the Season Finale of the ADAC RAVENOL Nürburgring Endurance Series
A successful season finale for DUNLOP Motorsport in the “Green Hell”: Nico Menzel and Sven Müller capped off the team’s debut season in the ADAC RAVENOL Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) with a commanding overall victory. At the 2nd NLS Sportwarte Trophy, the final race of the season for the popular amateur series on the legendary Nordschleife, the duo in the black-and-yellow No. 17 Porsche 911 GT3 R impressively prevailed over the competition. In the first half of the race, the team worked its way to the front and held onto the lead all the way to the finish. With a lead of more than half a minute over the runner-up, DUNLOP Motorsport celebrated a convincing victory.
During qualifying on Saturday morning, the drivers faced a wet track that gradually dried out as the session progressed. Consequently, it became clear that the fastest laps would only be possible in the final stages. Nico Menzel seized this opportunity for a final push for a fast lap and put in a nearly perfect lap. However, an unfortunate yellow flag period on the track prevented a better qualifying position, so the DUNLOP Porsche started the four-hour race from sixth on the grid. Nevertheless, the conditions for a strong season finale were already looking promising.
Menzel also took the start and made up ground right from the first lap: With a strong opening phase, he moved up to fourth place and kept pace with the leaders. At the start of the third lap, the Nordschleife veteran even claimed third place overall. After five laps, it was time for the first pit stop: The DUNLOP Porsche was fitted with fresh slick tires, while Menzel remained behind the wheel. With consistently fast lap times, the 28-year-old continued his charge and took the overall lead for the first time after about an hour.
At the halfway point of the race, Menzel handed the wheel over to teammate Sven Müller. The experienced GT3 driver seamlessly built on his teammate’s strong performance and confidently brought the DUNLOP Porsche across the finish line as the overall winner after four hours. In the final stages, Müller once again impressively underscored the car’s performance, further extending the lead over the pursuers with fast laps on the DUNLOP slicks. With this victory, Menzel and Müller celebrated their second overall win together this season.
Müller received special recognition by being named “Driver of the Race”: The experienced GT3 driver completed the race in two different Porsches, impressing with a consistently strong performance.
This latest overall victory also marked a successful conclusion to DUNLOP Motorsport’s debut season on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The season finale was equally successful for the #632 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992.1) of BLACK FALCON Team FANATEC, which is fielded in cooperation with Gran Turismo and was also running on DUNLOP tires. The driver quartet-featuring veteran Manuel Metzger, YouTuber Misha Charoudin, and the two Gran Turismo sim racers and content creators Steve Brown and Jimmy Broadbent-secured another class victory in the AT2 class for alternative-fuel vehicles to close out the season, as well as a strong 17th place in the overall standings.
With the finale of the ADAC RAVENOL Nürburgring Endurance Series, DUNLOP Motorsport brings a successful debut season on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife to a close. The black-and-yellow Porsche not only turned heads with its eye-catching livery but also delivered impressive results: In addition to the overall victory at the season finale, the team also secured another triumph at the 1st ADAC Eifel Trophy in June and a second-place finish overall at the 66th ADAC ACAS Cup in September. DUNLOP Motorsport can thus look back on a successful first season and concludes it with another impressive performance on the Nordschleife.
